چکیده

Traditional security mechanisms are mainly based on the distribution of shared secret keys. Yet, this task is non trivial in large wireless networks, due to mobility and scalability issues. Recently, it has been found that some properties of the physical layer of wireless communications can be leveraged for the purpose of secret key generation. In particular, the wireless channel has been investigated as a common source of secrecy to generate a shared secret key. We explore the most recent approaches in this area. RSSI-based key generation is firstly investigated. After that, we present some of the most recent approaches of key generation based on the channel impulse response. Moreover, we discuss some other physical layer methods. Thus, this paper provides a survey on the latest key generation mechanisms on the physical layer of wireless communications. Optimal SVD-based Precoding for Secret Key Extraction from Correlated OFDM Sub-Channels

Secret key extraction is a crucial issue in physical layer security and a less complex and, at the same time, a more robust scheme for the next generation of 5G and beyond. Unlike previous works on this topic, in which Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) sub-channels were considered to be independent, the effect of correlation between sub-channels on the secret key rate is address...

A Lightweight Intrusion Detection System Based on Specifications to Improve Security in Wireless Sensor Networks

Due to the prevalence of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) in the many mission-critical applications such as military areas, security has been considered as one of the essential parameters in Quality of Service (QoS), and Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is considered as a fundamental requirement for security in these networks. This paper presents a lightweight Intrusion Detection System to prote...

Multi-channel Medium Access Control Protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey

Extensive researches on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have been performed and many techniques have been developed for the data link (MAC) layer. Most of them assume single-channel MAC protocols. In the usual dense deployment of the sensor networks, single-channel MAC protocols may be deficient because of radio collisions and limited bandwidth. Hence, using multiple channels can significantly ...

Physical Layer Secret-Key Generation Scheme for Transportation Security Sensor Network

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are widely used in different disciplines, including transportation systems, agriculture field environment monitoring, healthcare systems, and industrial monitoring. The security challenge of the wireless communication link between sensor nodes is critical in WSNs. In this paper, we propose a new physical layer secret-key generation scheme for transportation secur...
